Travel Basketball

Travel is available to residents in 3rd grade through 8th grade. Competitive tryouts are held in the early fall and the travel leagues typically run December to March. The goal is to field 2 teams for each grade.

  • Tryout Process

    All players interested in playing on an SLYB travel league team must attend tryouts held in October.  Tryout dates, times and locations will be posted on this website.  Teams will be formed based upon the players grade level for that season and talent level.  There are a limited number of roster spots and those that are not assigned to a team are encouraged to register in the SLYB Recreation League.

  • Practice & Games

    Practices are held once or twice per week (typically twice per week before games start and once per week after games start), normally on weeknights, but ultimately at the discretion of the individual coach.  One or two games are normally played per week, depending on the league entered.  League games can be held on both weekends and weeknights though most leagues typically have games on weekends.  Each travel team for no additional cost will also be entered into 1-2 weekend tournaments, dates and times TBD.  Playoff games are also possible depending on team record and the individual leagues playoff rules.

    We strongly encourage everyone to bookmark the league websites to see up to date schedules and standings. While we try to make sure TeamSnap One is updated, its the coaches task to make changes if a scheduling change happens.

  • Silver Lake Basketball League Policy

    As of the '26 - '27 all travel players will have to opt-out of our SLBL. It is strongly encouraged to play in both as our fundamentals are taught extensively in the SLBL.

  • Cost

    For up-to-date pricing please see the pricing information on the Athletes page here. Players who make a team will be required to purchase a uniform as well.  Uniforms can be used for multiple seasons.
