Instructional basketball is the foundation of our program, focusing on fundamental skills, high repetitions, and positive coaching. Players learn the basics of the game while gradually building toward controlled scrimmages.

  • What is Instructional Basketball

    Silver Lake Instructional builds the foundation for success by teaching young athletes strong fundamentals, game awareness, and confidence through consistent, positive instruction.

  • Divisions

    Instructional is only run during the winter months. The divisions are:

    • Boys Kindergarten - 1st
    • Girls Kindergarten - 1st
  • Format

    Instructional basketball will meet 8–10 times during the winter season, focusing on building fundamental skills through structured drills, high repetitions, and positive coaching. Sessions are designed to keep players active while introducing core basketball concepts such as ball handling, passing, shooting, spacing, and defense. As players gain confidence and understanding of the game, practices will gradually build toward controlled scrimmages that allow athletes to apply what they have learned in a fun and supportive environment.
